Incredible design Jesper! No space wasted on the PCB Would be interesting to see the other side of the PCB.
It seems I must become familiar with ARM devices in the future.

Other side of PCB is totally flat, so the Li-Po cell will lie flush against it.

Yes, it's a complete player -  board, display, battery and enclosure.

You only need to add a memory card.

Yes, unless you find another with the same connector or modify heavily, but then the new cool enclosure wont fit ofcourse.

Schematics will be available, but not board layout, at least not initially.

However, note that this is NOT really a build-it-yourself design. It uses a high-desity 4-layer PCB, only 1 mm thick and some components not commonly available.

While I may sell some of the parts used on the boards, it will NOT be sold as a kit, and I do not plan to sell the PCB alone either.

This is the plan now, but who knows, it may change.

What would be the advantage if you build one yourself?
I mean it's nearly impossible to make it smaller, maybe with double sided placement, but the LCD and battery rules the size.
And it's for sure impossible on 2 layer PCB, I don't need to see the schematic to proof this statement.

I could tell everyone who asks for that small box that it is my selfmade mp3 player...

But i think when some comonents are not sold commonly then buying a prebuild player would be fine too

For me it's enough that I have access to the software so that I can add features if I like and fix any bugs that are annoying to me on the player I use.

But i'm also mainly a software guy and not a real hardware freak
