Pin 15 and 16 on J2 should NOT be connected to 15 and 16 on the display.
There is no need for a second power supply. Just connect a resistor from Vcc to pin 15 on display and pin 16 to GND.

I went to the web site for the display that I think I have # Par tm204aff  and the pin out shows voltage on pin 2 but they also show + on 15 and - on 16 for lcd backlight. Could this be one of the problems. I'm using a old display cord to patch from j2 to the display, is there a min. wire size for this connection?

The 4*20 alphanumeric display from the webshop need the backlight to show anything at all. Remember to connect a resistor in series or you maby damage the display.

Good luck

Software / National characters
« on: 10.04.2005 at 23:23:50 »
I can't compile my configured asm-file with Swedish national characters for yampp3/usb with Nokia graphic LCD.
I just get the message "The system cannot execute the specified program." AS31-16.exe that is.

I'm running Windows XP.

What do I try next?
Or maby some swede could mail me a compiled .bin file?  ::)

Software / Yampp3/usb UART
« on: 26.03.2004 at 17:52:35 »
I'm trying to make my own simple sattelite without using the Sattelite option in the firmware, but simply use the standard UART.
I've soldered wires to my yampp3/usbs uart at two vias. Before the MAX202 that is. I use an ATmega8 to receive the data, but I don't get anything but crap. I've tested my ATmega8s uart runing at different baud rates, but as far as I can se, the yampp runs at 115.2kbps and that gives nothing but 0, 240 and 248 as the receiving data. Slowing the baud rate give more random RX data, but nothing that make sense.
What should I expect to receive and what baud is the right?

Thanks

Software / Rutime playlist
« on: 07.10.2003 at 17:22:10 »
I have made som changes in the YAMPP3/USB 1.27 fw. While browsing for songs EV_NEXT will put that particular playlistindex songindex in a two-dimensional array.
When play is pressed, the songs will be picked from that array.

runtime_playlist[LENGTH=???][HEIGHT=2]
listindex    3,  5, 11,  8,...
songindex  2, 10,  6,  5,...

My question is: How big can I make that array?

Thanks

Software / Remote

I must have missed something! I just can't get my yampp3/USB to even try to learn a remote protocol!
The AUTODETECT... option is defined in constants.h.
When I press and hold the "play" key during startup my display goes blank and stays that way nomather what. Shouldn't it say "Remote setup:\n etc." ?

Ideas?

I was using the nokia display for my yampp3/usb. After recompiling firmware for usage with 4x20 display and burned into player with usb, it hangs when/after showing startup message. At this point I can't reprogram player with usb.
When I load firmware with PonyProg ISP the player works fine.
I programed bootloader v.3 and the firmware loaded ok thru usb, but only once. The player still hangs...

What to do? What to do!?
