Hardware / Touchscreen
« on: 08.02.2005 at 20:38:31 »
Has any one ever tried this? It doesn't seem too difficult. There are SPI chips (MXB7843) chips which can handle 4 wire touch screens (resistance based). The trouble seems more to be with actually getting touch panels small enough. The best I could find are:-

PS before anyone comments. I know that I have lots of ideas and don't get much done. However, I (think) that I understand most stuff pretty well, its just my construction techniques that I don't have confidence in :X - idealy I'd be able to send my designs off to some shop which would assemble a 1 off for me for less than a ridiculous price

Hardware / Smaller PCB for Yammp 7
« on: 05.02.2005 at 10:10:51 »
I've read several posts where people have said they were designing smaller PCBs for the yampp, but I haven't heard/seen any completed. (Mini Yammp7). Has anyone made a smaller pcb? If not I'll try and design one. However, although I understand most of how the yampps work in 'theory', I have little experience of making projects - especially smd. So I was wondering if someone else could build it for me (I'd obviously pay)?

Hardware / AT89C51SND1C
« on: 07.01.2005 at 15:44:59 »
This isn't a Yammp specific h/w question, but as there aren't any general boards around at the moment, I thought this was the best place to post.

Has anyone ever tried this chip (AT89C51SND1C) or any of the other *SND1Cs? It sounds as though its the perfect solution for a mini portable player. It includes:-
- IDE / CompactFlash Interface as well as a MMC interface.
- USB interface which can be used for ISP
- MP3 Decoder (and when the 2C comes out - don't know when, atmel haven't replied to my email yet - also a DAC and amp)
- Very cheap compared to VS1001 - £9.95 from Digikey

I'm interested in trying this product out, but wondering if anyone had any experience.

Hardware / Yammp 7 from shop
« on: 27.12.2004 at 21:46:00 »
I'm looking into buying the preassembled yammp7 from the shop (I was going to try and build my own mp3 player but decided that with all components being SMT, i didn't want to risk damaging expensive chips etc.).  It says it comes without a screen, can the 3310 screen be bought and connected easily? Also, is the required programming circuit built onto the shop version. As I'd like to try changing firmware and boot loader etc.

Thanks in advance.
