The VS1001 Piggyback board is a small development board for testing and playing around with the MP3 decoderchip VS1001
from VLSI. This chip is a complete MP3 decoder, including the DA-converter. It is also much
cheaper than the MAS/DAC combination.
The board can also be used as a decoder plugin or subunit for your own homebuilt MP3 player.

It's a small development board (33*40 mm) with a VS1001 and it's closest parts. Apart from the VS1001, it contains a crystal, a National Semiconductor LP2980 3V regulator and a 74LCV245 level converter so the board can be interfaced to 5V logic.
It has a 12 pin connector for power supply, control signals and headphone outputs.
It's using all surface mount components except for the connector and the crystal.
There is a testprogram in C-code, intended to run on a STK200 development board with an Atmel At90s8515, but can be adapted for other CPU's.
